The ball is officially rolling

Josh is now a Kentucky resident!

Took him about 12.5 hours to drive up over two days this weekend, staying in Nashville Saturday night.

Josh used to make almost the exact same drive up to Fort Campbell, KY back in 2002-04, so it brought back lots of memories.

Everything is ok with the rental house - he moved in on Sunday afternoon. Our landlords are super easy to work with. Josh has the lease and after he signs it will send it to me, then I have to mail it back up. So, Josh is already moved in, without any paperwork completed.

They're also going to replace the old tub and a window for us. God really blessed us with this house, I'm telling you.

Today was Josh's first day at work. Thankfully, the drive was only 35 minutes, pretty much exactly what we were hoping for! Seems as though he will be travelling quite a bit, which we expected. Rack up those airline miles so we can take a trip, honey!

As for me, this was my first day not working at Hampton as the AGM. My management company was nice enough to let me stay on staff and work once a week as a desk clerk so that I can make it to my 3 year anniversary, which is August 6th. I start that tomorrow.

Love,
Josh, Kim & Abby

The Touchton Family is moving north!

For anyone who hasn't heard through the grapevine... Josh got a fantastic job opportunity at Fort Knox that we just could not pass up.

He's moving up to Louisville this weekend. I'll follow in a couple weeks, once the movers get us all packed up and get our stuff on the road.

I don't have a job yet. But at least we found a place to live!

Josh moves into our cute little rental house (with a fenced backyard for Abby!) this Sunday. We found it last week during our quick trip up to Kentucky we took to get familiar with the areas between Fort Knox and Louisville. It was important to find a safe "halfway" point, more or less, since I will eventually be working in Louisville, and Josh will be travelling quite a bit.

We were blessed to find a great area after visiting several bad ones, including an area recommended to us that ended up being home to several meth labs. We were getting very nervous on Day 2 of our search. However, we went from having no options to having 3 options in 24 hours. God is good!

We had a great trip and I think we will adjust well to Kentucky. It's got enough big city to keep me entertained (I already googled the malls, Targets, and Olive Gardens), and goodness knows there's gun shops and taxidermists on every corner for Josh! The snow and ice may be an issue... the first time Abby has to go "out" in the snow will definitely be entertaining. I may need a video camera.

Lots of prayer went into this move and we know this is what we're supposed to be doing. We are sad to leave our families, and our families are sad to see us go, but we all agree this is a great opportunity for Josh and I. Very excited to see what's next for us!

Love,
Josh, Kim & Abby
